Local and luscious

What can you expect to find at the market this Thursday afternoon? Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini and eggplant from Bergefurd’s, and quite possibly yellow watermelon. Back Acres Farm offers a great selection of produce, including melons, plus free range non-gmo chicken and grass fed ground beef. Our Harvest is bringing heirloom tomatoes, cabbage, potatoes, onions, and beets. They’ve been growing greens and lettuce throughout the summer, and will have those this week as well. North Oaks Farm has an unusual variety of heirloom acorn squash, plus butternut squash, spaghetti squash, garlic, okra and more. Feeders and Seeders expects to bring “Flaming Fury” peaches, the last peach crop of the year, as well as golden delicious apples, tomatoes and cucumbers.

The Can Man has quite an assortment of jams, jellies, and salsa. His banana pepper mustard is great for grilling, try a taste and you’ll be hooked! Aunt Flora’s cobblers and pulled pork sandwiches have been quite popular. Treat yourself to some Grandola Granola and pick up natural skin care items from Green Grrrl Wisdom to round out your visit to the farm market this week.

The last Kid’s Corner of the summer will feature College Hill resident Jackie Millay of Harmonic Pulse Wellness who will read a Tai Chi book for children and teach the kids some Tai Chi moves beginning at 3:30. Just Earth will perform their music with a message from 5 – 6:30 pm.

The College Hill Farm Market takes place Thursday afternoons from 3:00 – 6:30 at the corner of Hamilton and Llanfair in the parking lot of the College Hill Presbyterian Church. We accept credit cards and EBT cards. Produce Perks can help double your EBT dollars, ask us how.
