The Shadeau Bread stand has so much more than bread and pastries these days! Last week they had apples and pears (including incredible Asian pears!) from Backyard Orchard as well as cut flowers. Back Acres Farm had squash, watermelon, greens, potatoes, onions, peppers, tomatoes, eggs, their wide selection of meats, and lots of other produce.
Like Mom’s Only Vegan joins us each week – be sure to pick up some lemon cran poppyseed, rocky road, or chocolate peanut butter cookies (among other varieties). Aunt Flora’s Cobblers is also at the market with their amazing cobblers – they debuted some mini single-serving cobblers last week!
Be sure to stop by to support your local producers, market, and musicians during the last four outdoor markets of 2017!

Product Spotlight: Kale
As fall closes in cool-season greens like kale become more prevalent at local markets. Be sure to take advantage of this incredibly healthy veggie; if you’re looking for ideas check out the previous kale spotlight or the recipes below. The kale market salad is creamy, complex, and extremely satisfying. Feel free to substitute another whole grain like quinoa for the farro the recipe calls for. Also check out the super simple ginger coconut milk noodle soup for a flexible way to incorporate lots of seasonal produce, like kale, into another extremely satisfying meal.
